CSA - Executive Director
Embracing a growth mindset, the ED has direct strategic, operational and administrative responsibility for the development and successful implementation of programs and fundraising initiatives. Accountable to the CSA Board of Directors who are highly active and involved in the association, the ED will have direct contact with external stakeholders, media, third-party vendors, the general public, and employees.

Who Are We
As Canadians are increasingly being diagnosed and affected by Spondyloarthritis, the Canadian Spondylitis Association (CSA) plays an essential role in helping patients achieve their full health potential and live a better life.
We are the only patient-led, not-for-profit organization focused solely on Canadians living with Spondyloarthritis. Over the last decade, we have developed credible, valuable, and relevant resources for our growing community and the thousands at risk of being diagnosed.
It is our mission to be the leading voice for the Spondylarthritis community in Canada, raising awareness and providing innovative support, education, advocacy and awareness for patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals.

Executive Director
The Executive Director will provide entrepreneurial leadership to our team. Embracing a growth mindset, the ED has direct strategic, operational and administrative responsibility for the development and successful implementation of programs and fundraising initiatives. Accountable to the CSA Board of Directors, the ED will have direct contact with external stakeholders, media, third-party vendors, the general public, and employees. It is essential the Executive Director have strong fundraising and management experience.

Key Responsibilities
Fund and Partnership Development
- Work with the Board to secure adequate funding for the operation of the organization.
- Leveraging CSA’s new charitable status, lead, manage and actively engage in the stewardship of existing partners, sponsors, and donors.
- Actively acquire and develop new funding and partnership opportunities, growing the financial support of the CSA.
- Raise the profile of the CSA creating positive and enduring relationships.
- Oversee the development of strategies, tools, and techniques to further develop existing fund development plans, while building for the future.
Marketing and Communications
- Oversee the development of sound marketing and communication strategies that express and enhance the mission of CSA.
- Ensure all programs by CSA build organizational credibility and brand awareness.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization with stakeholders, media, and the general public.
Organizational Leadership
- Provide entrepreneurial leadership for the organization to ensure long-term success and implementation of the organization's strategic vision.
- Serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Directors.
- Develop the agenda, budget and reports for monthly meetings with the Board of Directors.
- Support the Board of Directors in its development of a strategic vision.
- Actively recruit, engage and energize volunteers, partnering organizations, and donors.
Operations and HR Support
- Responsible for program, operational planning, implementation and delivery.
- Research, recommend and implement CRMs, software and programs that should be used by the CSA.
- Determine the staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery and work with the Board to ensure staffing requirements are met.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Human Resource policies and guidelines.
Key Competencies
- Fundraising experience is essential, preferably including major and corporate gifts.
- 5+ years of management experience in a charitable, not-for-profit organization.
- Board reporting experience is an asset.
- Proven experience of managing broad revenue and operational teams and functions.
- Should have a deep interest and some knowledge of the healthcare system in Canada and in the medical sciences and research.
- Post-Secondary degree is required.

Compensation
- The hiring range for this role is $110,000 - $140,000 annual salary, flexible vacation.
Workplace Environment
- This role is remote, work from home and can live anywhere in Canada.
