Working closely with the Board of Directors and senior leadership team, the CEO of YW Kitchener-Waterloo will provide vision and plan strategies consistent with the mission, vision and values of the organization in addition to providing strategic financial and operational leadership.

Who Are We
For over a century, YW Kitchener-Waterloo (YWKW) has been dedicated to serving women and their families and is one of the largest non-profit organizations in the Waterloo Region.
YWKW has developed and operates two dozen programs at many sites across the Region meeting the changing needs of local women and remaining committed to gender equality.
Today, YWKW advocates for system level changes while working to provide shelter, supportive and affordable housing, improved education and training, and better childcare services.

Working closely with the Board of Directors and senior leadership team, the CEO of YW Kitchener-Waterloo will provide vision and plan strategies consistent with the mission, vision and values of the organization, in addition to providing strategic financial and operational leadership. The CEO will be responsible for regular monitoring, development and evaluation of staff, programs, policies and procedures and making recommendations to the Board of Directors. The CEO will provide leadership to staff and have final responsibility for all management decisions.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
- Creates an environment and culture that focuses on fulfilling the organization's mission, vision, and values.
- Uphold diversity of programming and implement supports systems to expand and improve services offered and remove barriers to access.
- Streamline processes and systems internally to improve efficiencies and achieve operational excellence.
- Embody a philosophy of team building that will grow leaders and leadership and allow for input and contributions to move the organization forward.
- Responsible to deliver and execute on the Strategic Plan, including budgets and meeting timelines on specific deliverables as set out in the plan.
- Reinforce YWKW's commitment to championing women in leadership roles and being a diverse, inclusive, and equitable organization.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent the organization in the community among business, levels of governments to increase visibility, understanding and support of the YWKW’s mandate, increase brand awareness and social media presence.
- Maintain solid internal and external reputation and relationships.
- Work with YWCA Canada to be a change agent and helping to give back to the next generation of YWKW leaders.
Finance and Operations
- Directs the development of annual budgets that are consistent with the YWKW’s approved strategic and operational plans.
- Ensures effective financial control through monitoring, regulating and revising approved budgets, and annual auditing of financial statements.
- Ensures the efficient use of YWKW’s financial resources through the development and implementation of effective administrative systems and practices.
- Maintain fiscal responsibility, timely reporting, and on-going transparency with the Board about the organization’s finances.
Fundraising and Resource Development
- Maintain key funding relationships, particularly with government, major and long-standing donors.
- Increase diverse financial support by seeking funding offered by government, organizations, corporations and private donors.
- Resourceful in seeking additional funding and writing grants to support YWKW's mission.
- Develop strategic partnerships with a variety of key stakeholders to strengthen the voice of YWKW within the community.
Key Competencies
- Exceptional networking and relationship building skills with internal and external stakeholders and constituents based on trust and respect.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations including those experiencing homelessness or dealing with mental health and addictions issues.
- Positive and inclusive attitude with exemplary team-building, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Highly developed verbal and written communications skills, including public speaking and presentation abilities.
- Ability to handle multiple, concurrent issues, projects, and tasks and flexibility to pivot and adapt.
- Excellent assessment, decision making, problem solving, priority setting and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in business productivity tools, cloud-based platforms and devices.
- Knowledge of Donor Perfect an asset.
Experience and Education
- Minimum 10 years of leadership and management experience.
- Strategic leadership ability.
- Post-secondary degree preferred or relevant sector leadership experience.

Compensation
- The hiring range for this role is $125,000 - $150,000.
Checks and Verifications
- The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Police and Vulnerable Sector Check dated within two (2) months from date of hire.
