About the Opportunity
People and Culture Manager, Children Believe
Reporting to the Chief People & Culture Officer (CPCO), there are two People & Culture (P&C) Manager roles, both serving as business partners assigned to unique departments and having different programmatic ownership.
This P&C Manager role acts as the Business Partner to the Fundraising, Development, and Communications (FD&C) team and will also have responsibilities in providing a full range of value-added people and culture initiatives and services to the organization. The P&C Manager will offer coaching and mentorship to the P&C Coordinator.
As a P&C Manager, you are a clear communicator with keen attention to detail. You’re a team player and have a friendly demeanor fostering strong relationships within the organization. About the Responsibilities
HRIS Management
- Manage systems, including system configuration, updates, and level 2 troubleshooting.
- Oversee system integration with payroll, time, and attendance.
- Manage user access, permissions, training, and support.
- Maintain the centralized database and employee records, ensuring record retention compliance.
- Act as primary liaison with the vendor.
HR Metrics & Reporting
- Develop, oversee and maintain a dashboard for HR metrics/key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Conduct regular audits of HR data and assess trends.
- Collaborate with peers to optimize processes, mitigate risk, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Industry Best Practices & Legal Compliance
- Responsible for regularly handling highly confidential employee and legal information.
- Stay informed about industry best practices, emerging trends, and changes in employment laws.
Workplace Culture
- Support cultural initiatives, including recognition (e.g., Service Awards & life events).
- Participate in and liaise with the social committee.
HR Policies & Procedures
- Review, revise, and implement HR policies and procedures as needed.
- Research, compile, and draft information for policies, procedures, and employment legislation topics.
- Prepare reports with summary findings and recommendations.
- Identify best practices that could be brought to the attention of the senior leadership team for potential implementation across the organization.
- Stay current with best practices, legislative changes, and industry standards.
Employee Relations as Business Partner to FD&C Team
- Support FD&C team in talent acquisition, including recruiting, onboarding, and orientation.
- Manage disputes and investigations, including claims of harassment.
- Oversee staff transitions, including promotions, separations, and terminations.
- Conduct exit interviews for voluntary separations.
- Collaborate on professional development plans aligned with the P&C Learning and Development Program.
- Advise and assist departmental managers in interpreting and applying HR policies and best practices.
- Model positive and constructive communications, embodying organizational values and behavioural practices.
- Coach staff to enhance demonstration of values-driven behaviours.
- Screen external volunteers for relevant opportunities with Children Believe, as well as employee volunteers for Children Believe events, assisting with scheduling and establishing a consistent expectation for employee engagement.

About the Requirements
Key Competencies & Qualifications
- Completion of a degree or diploma program in a related discipline. Consideration will be given to candidates with a combination of relevant education and demonstrated work experience.
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and member of the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA) preferred;
- 4 years or more of generalist HR experience including HRIS systems management, HR analytics, talent acquisition (recruiting and orientation), employee relations, policy and procedures.
- Experience in non-profit sector and the international development sector is considered an asset;
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills;
- Understanding and application of behavioural and competency-based models;
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
- Experience with ADP’s Workforce Now is an asset;
- Knowledge of applicable employment legislation;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; including the ability to train staff on changing policies, practices and HR systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills modeling positive, constructive communications with contacts at all levels across the organization;
- Skilled in project coordination and implementation with a collaborative approach;
- Quality-oriented; high attention to detail;
- Proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills;
- Adaptable to changing priorities and demands of the job;
- Cross-cultural sensitivity and ability to work in a multi-faith environment;
- Satisfactory current Canadian criminal record check required for successful candidates;
- Ability to speak and/or write in either French or Spanish will be considered an asset;

About the Compensation
Salary and Benefits
- Salary: $71,000 - $81,000 per year.
- Flexible Work Environment: Enjoy a flexible work environment, including hybrid work options, flexible hours, “No Meeting Mondays,” and the option to work up to 20 days out of province per year. In-person team sessions every 6 to 8 weeks in the office.
