Chief Executive Officer
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will lead and inspire the organization to accomplish its mission and leave a lasting legacy within the Hamilton community in a collaborative effort to eradicate poverty.
The CEO will be an ambassador within the community, building rapport with our strategic partners including: members of the emergency food network, donors, volunteers, the business community, government officials, food bank associations and others.

Who Are We
Operating since 1990, Hamilton Food Share is the emergency food shipping and receiving hub and Emergency Food Systems Coordinator for the network of agencies we support in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
We provide industrial-scale food resources to hunger relief agencies, operating emergency food programs open to the public. The food is equitably delivered to food banks and meal programs to ensure that people living in poverty have access to healthy food for themselves and their families.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership
- Creates an environment and culture that focuses on fulfilling the organization's mission and values.
- Embody a philosophy of team building that will grow leaders and leadership and allow for input and contributions to move the organization forward towards a passion for ending poverty of all kinds.
- Responsible for creating, delivering, and executing on a Strategic Plan, including deliverables and meeting deadlines.
- Provide overall strategic direction for all aspects of the organization, community involvement, strategic partnerships, and team.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent the organization in the community among businesses and local governments to increase visibility, understanding and support of the Hamilton Food Share’s mandate, as well as, increasing brand awareness.
- Maintain solid internal and external reputation and relationships.
- Proactively cultivate new relationships and strategic partnerships to elevate advocacy of the organization within the community.
- Active engagement with local media partners.
Board Governance
- Develop, in consultation with the Board, oversight, governance policies, and procedures as appropriate.
- Monitor and apprise the Board of all aspects of organizational risk.
- Responsible for attending all Committee meetings of the Board.
Finance and Operations
- Directs the development of annual budgets that are consistent with the Hamilton Food Share’s strategic and operational plans.
- Ensures the efficient use of Hamilton Food Share’s financial resources through the development and implementation of effective financial controls.
- Maintain fiscal responsibility, timely reporting, and on-going transparency with the Board about the organization’s finances.
- Collaborating and empowering the senior management team towards streamlining processes, and systems internally to improve efficiencies and achieve operational excellence.
Fundraising and Resource Development
- Work with the Fundraising Manager to maintain key funding relationships, particularly with government, major and long-standing donors.
- Increase diverse financial support by seeking funding offered by government, organizations, corporations and private donors.

- Non-profit management or equivalent experience an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent relationship builder.
- Ability to establish meaningful and productive relationships with donors, supporters, government officials, and corporate partners.

- The ability to conduct and promote research with local experts on the effects of household food insecurity and poverty in Hamilton.
Before You Apply
Compensation
- The hiring range for this role is $115,000-$135,000.
Workplace Environment
- Hybrid Role with in-person required at least three days per week, including office and warehouse settings.
- Parking included.
- Occasional evening and weekend hours.
- Required to hold a valid Driver's License.
